The Faction Prodigy Is the Best Deal in Skiing Right Now

The Prodigy 1 and 2 are where the gap is widest — roughly 40% off MSRP and $70–75 under the national sale price.

Why the Prodigy has a cult following

Faction calls the Prodigy series skiing's cheat code. That's marketing, but the reason it sticks is real: these skis make you better at the thing you're already trying to do.

The shape is a Directional Twin — a tail noticeably narrower than the tip, so the ski drives forward and attacks the fall line, but still a true twin tip, so switch landings and switch riding are easy. Downhill performance without giving up the freestyle vocabulary.

The Elliptical Sidecut is the other half. Longer radius underfoot, shorter radii at the tip and tail. Turn initiation is effortless, pivots and smears happen without fighting the ski, and you can run short turns or long turns off the same edge.

Underneath, it's a poplar core with a Rocker/Camber/Rocker profile and Faction's Moustache Flex — stability in front of and behind the binding for edge hold, softer through the tips and tails to absorb chop and stay playful.

Durability got specific attention:

• XL 2.5mm edges — 25% taller than Faction's standard 2mm
• Anti-chip Micro Cap protecting tips and tails
• Full-strength sidewall construction
• Carbon/rubber stomp pad — a 600mm inlay under the binding absorbing hits and vibration

Which Prodigy

The Prodigy 2 is the answer for most Utah skiers. 98mm is the width that works here — enough float for a storm morning at Deer Valley or Park City, narrow enough to hold an edge when it's scraped off by two o'clock. SkiEssentials calls out its rare ability to feel strong and supportive underfoot while staying nimble enough to smear, slash, and spin. Faction's own customer reviews sit at 4.8 out of 5 across 65 of them.

The Prodigy 3 is the one for people who ski storms. SkiEssentials tested it and found that while it skis like a 106 in powder, it feels considerably more precise than the width suggests. It runs a 133mm tip and 125mm tail — enough shovel to stay up in deep snow, enough taper to release when you want it to.

Sizing: these ski true to size. Size up if you want more stability at speed and in deep snow. Stay at your normal length if you want the ski to feel loose and playful.

The Capsule series

Same ski, different art. The Capsule editions carry artwork from Elsa Grace, while the standard Prodigy graphics come from Parade Studio. Construction, shape, and specs are identical — you're choosing a topsheet, not a different ski.

Get them mounted right

Buying skis online in August and then trying to find a shop with bench time in November is how people end up on the wrong binding at the wrong mount point.

Come in and we'll sort the mount point for how you actually ski — that matters more on a Prodigy than on most skis, since the entire point is that you can ride it switch.
